Black currant jam in a new way: what to add for a bright flavor

Homemade currant jam is very tasty and useful, which even without thickeners and gelatin turns out very thick. You can prepare the dessert in a new way, adding aromatic herbs and citrus fruits for a bright taste.

Food blogger Lilia Zvit shared a recipe for black currant jam with basil, mint and lemon on her YouTube channel(Lilia Zvit).

Black currant jam recipe

Ingredients for 4-5 b 0,5 liters each:

  • currants - 2 kg
  • sugar - 1.5 kg
  • mint - 4 sprigs
  • basil - 2 sprigs
  • lemon - 2 slices

Method of preparation:

1. First you need to wash and peel the currants from the branches.

2. Pour sugar into the berries and stir with a spatula so that the currants remain intact. Bring to a boil over medium heat.

How to make jam from currants

3 Meanwhile, prepare the herbs, namely form a bunch of basil and mint and tie the stems with string.

4. When the currants boil, add the greens and lemon. Cook all 15 minutes after boiling, stirring constantly. Remove any foam that forms with a spoon.
