Bigos with cabbage and meat: how to cook the legendary dish
Bigos is a kind of business card of Polish cuisine. The dish is prepared from cabbage - fresh or sauerkraut, and meat - pork, beef, duck, or even game. The necessary ingredients are stewed with the addition of spices and tomato paste. Everything turns out very nourishing and delicious.
One of the cooking blogs(lvivska.pani) on Instagram published a recipe for bigos with cabbage and pork.
- cabbage - 700 g
- pork - 600 g
- onion - 1 pc
- carrot - 1 pc
- tomato paste - 70 g
- bay leaf, pepper
- salt - 1 tsp.
- garlic - 2 cloves
Method of cooking:
1. Shred the cabbage, cut the meat into medium slices, and chop the onion. In a well-heated frying pan first, fry the pork for 5-7 minutes.
2. Then add the onions, stir, and fry until soft.
Grate carrots on a grater, add to the meat, and mix. Immediately add the tomato paste and mix again.
4. Place cabbage and bay leaf on top. Cover and stew for 10 minutes.
5. Add salt and pepper, and squeeze garlic. Stir and stew for another 5 minutes. Done!
