"The great rule of the Russian elite": Rodnyansky explains why his colleague Mikhalkov became Putin's puppet

Ukrainian filmmaker Oleksandr Rodnyansky, who has been building his career in Russia for a long time, explained why his colleague Nikita Mikhalkov became a puppet of dictator Vladimir Putin. According to him, the filmmaker has always supported the political position of the Russian leader, and the current ruler of the empire has only become his successor.

In an interview with DW, Rodnyansky recalled that Mikhalkov was loyal first to Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev, then to Russian President Boris Yeltsin, and now to Putin. According to the director, he has long been a "sovereign's man."

"This is a sovereign, they are all servants, they were honored because, on the one hand, there is a great rule in Russia that applies to many people, and it determines the entire social structure of the Russian elite. This rule has existed, I think, for a good thousand years, or even more. It is formulated in a wonderful question: Whose will you be? That is, who is whose? Who is this oligarch sovereign's? Who is this one's? And so on. And who are the sovereigns? These are the sovereign's direct servants, i.e., the close ones, the royal courtiers, and they serve the sovereign. This is the logic," Rodnyansky explained.

According to the director, Mikhalkov is focused only on serving the state. "And a state like Russia, a huge one, consisting of 100 peoples and a huge number of territories, most of which were conquered long ago or recently, is a different question. It should be held only by a strong and united hand," he added.

We would like to remind you that Nikita Mikhalkov does not hide his support for the war in Ukraine and, moreover, for the theft of social values of our people. Thus, he is going to shoot a movie in Russia about the daughter of Yaroslav the Wise, Queen Anne of France.
