How to clean a white window sill quickly and cheaply: 3 ways
The plastic white window sills that most Ukrainian homes have are cheap, quite durable and look good. That is, until they develop a yellow or grey stain. There are many reasons for plastic yellowing - from material ageing to interaction with sunlight. It's not easy to deal with, but it is possible.
OBOZREVATEL has collected several ways to whiten a window sill and return it to its original appearance. You only need cheap products that are easy to find.
Laundry soap
The gel from ordinary laundry soap is a pretty good bleach. Grate a small piece of soap and soak it in a little water. Apply the resulting gel-like substance to the stain and wait for 5-10 minutes, then rinse. If soap alone does not work, add a little toothpaste to it. You can rub the stain a little with this mixture. Then rinse it off thoroughly.
Hydrogen peroxide
This liquid effectively restores the white colour of plastic. It is necessary to take peroxide from the pharmacy - with a low concentration of the solution, otherwise it can damage the window sill. Apply a little liquid to the yellowed area or stain and rub it with a sponge. Rinse the treated area with clean water.
Baking soda and vinegar
The active foam formed by these substances deeply cleans the plastic of the window sill. Dilute the baking soda and vinegar in a 1:1 ratio and apply them to the stain while they are still in active reaction and foaming. Leave the product on until it subsides. Then rinse off.
