Got a summons but wasn't taken to the front. "Swingers" star explains why he didn't join the Armed Forces

Mykhailo Kukuyuk has vision problems

Famous Ukrainian actor Mykhailo Kukuyuk, who works at the Ivan Franko National Academic Drama Theater, revealed that he and his colleagues received draft notices. However, the actor was not deployed to the front.

In a conversation with OBOZ.UA, Mykhailo Kukuyuk admitted that health problems prevented him from participating in the war. Nevertheless, he consistently contemplates how he can assist those serving on the front lines.

"When we were called to the theater, we went with the guys to register. However, I was not accepted due to health issues - my fundus was damaged, astigmatism was present, and I had a high degree of myopia - minus 11. Nowadays, I am always thinking about where I can be useful. I am aware of theaters where employees went directly to military psychiatry courses. It is necessary now because soldiers return from the front line having experienced burnout due to shell shock and contusions."

The actor mentioned that he underwent his first eye surgery in Moscow, where his stepfather was working at the time. During that period, the actor faced a conflict with troublemakers from Kazan, which inspired the film "The Word of a Boy." This movie is currently quite popular in Russia. Mykhailo Kukuyuk commented, "The Russians have now produced a new series. I remember those Kazan troublemakers; I encountered them personally. The thing is, I had my first eye surgery in Moscow. They confronted me at the Kyiv railway station when I was heading home – they were intimidating individuals. Fortunately, they were a bit hesitant because my eye was significantly swollen after the operation, so they backed off. Instead of contemplating autonomy and advocating for the separation of Tatarstan from Russia, all their courage and bravery were channeled into physical altercations. Their activities included going to Moscow and soliciting money at train stations. That's their limit. Meanwhile, they have an entire periodic table beneath their feet, allowing them to live in luxury, and they contribute to Moscow."
