People's Artist of Ukraine, theater and film actor Bohdan Beniuk, who heads the Podil Theater in Kyiv, called on Ukrainians to carefully check information about the war. The actor noted that unverified facts can be propaganda, so there is a chance to fall for the "hook of good Russians."
He shared his opinion in an interview with TV host Oleksii Sukhanov. In particular, Beniuk noted that there are no good Russians, and their opposition is inactive.
The actor believes that the presence of Russian liberals in our information space is "temporarily beneficial for Ukrainians." He explained this by saying that Russian oppositionists are opposing the Kremlin and trying to prove to people that the government is not as exemplary as it seems. Bohdan Beniuk believes that for this reason, Ukrainians divide Russian citizens into good and bad.
The actor urged not to forget that language, especially in times of war, is a sign of nationality. "Putin once said a very apt phrase: 'Russia's interests are where the Russian language is'. With this war, they are defending their interests and may continue to fight the West," he added.
Beniuk believes that Ukrainians should filter the information they consume to avoid falling victim to Russian manipulation. "Often Ukrainians start reading the occupiers' news under the pretext of 'I'll read what they think' and because of this, they get hooked by the 'good Russians'," the actor explained.
