"Unseen power! We haven't lost for more than a year": the coach of the Russian national team was made fun of after he said that the suspension was useful
Valery Karpin, the head coach of the Russian national team, saw the positive in the fact that the teams from the aggressor country were suspended from international competitions, which made the fans laugh a lot. According to the former player, the level of players and the national championship of the Russian Federation has not dropped, and some aspects have even gone up.
Karpin said this in an interview with the propaganda news agency TASS. He added that because of the mass exodus of foreigners from Russia after the Russian invasion of Ukraine, many local young players were able to take to the field more often.
"I think that the level of soccer will not fall. The first year with the ban, as far as I'm concerned, did not show that anything is degrading - on the contrary, it even began to develop, because young players or those who have not played before because of the number of foreigners, get more playing time. I have not seen a big drop in the level. I have noticed that the level has dropped a little, probably due to the departure of foreigners. But I think that by the end of the season everything will be made up for," said Karpin.
The readers of Sports.ru did not miss the opportunity to ridicule the Russian team's coach. They called him a populist and noted that the only upside of his suspension was that he had no embarrassing performance in the European competitions.
"Yeah, and the national team hasn't had a single defeat against European countries in a year - unprecedented power!", "Wow... And this potential foreign agent has become a patriot... Ugh", "There is no shameful exit from the European competitions, the level is growing", "That's why the best soccer is in the FNL. No Legionnaires, no European Cups, one development not limited by anything", "For over a year we haven't lost in European competitions. English, Spanish and Italian clubs are constantly losing, while ours are still in line," they write in the comments.
As reported by OBOZREVATEL, the general secretary of the Russian Football Union (RFU) Maxim Mitrofanov complained that Europe does not yet see the possibility of returning teams from Russia to international tournaments.
