Poland wants to convict a Russian hockey player for 10 years

In Poland, a Russian hockey player from one of the country's first-division championship clubs was arrested on suspicion of espionage. He has played in the local championship since 2021 and has become the 14th detained representative of the aggressor country, which the allies of Ukraine accuse of participation in an organized criminal grouping and activities for foreign intelligence.

The i.pl portal wrote about it, citing sources in the Polish prosecutor's office. Journalists were able to find out that it was Maksim S., who was detained in Silesia. He faces imprisonment for 10 years, and, in addition, the Russian is already in custody, as the suspect might try to escape.

It is alleged that the hockey player worked to identify critical infrastructure in several voivodeships. He informed his Russian intelligence clients about the results of his activities, for which he was rewarded. The athlete could've also been preparing acts of sabotage.

It is worth noting that you can find a profile of 21-year-old native of Reutov Maxim Sergeyev, playing for the first-league club "Zaglebie Sosnowiec" on the website of the Polish Ice Hockey Federation. He is a part of the team since 2021. The name of the athlete has already been confirmed by Poland's Attorney General Zbigniew Ziobro.

As reported by OBOZREVATEL, the former head coach of the Ukrainian national team from Russia Andrei Nazarov called to "always support" the dictator Vladimir Putin.
