The authoritative publication FourFourTwo has put the Ukrainian player of London's Arsenal club, Oleksandr Zinchenko, in the first place in the ranking of the best left-backs in world football right now. Oleksandr beat out stars like Theo Hernandez, Jordi Alba and Nuno Mendes in the top 10.

"Seemingly brought to Arsenal by Mikel Arteta with the intention of playing him in midfield, Zinchenko has thrived at left-back this season," write the authors of the ranking.

Explaining their choice, FourFourTwo admires the Ukrainian.

"Picking the ball up from deep and drifting into central areas, the Ukrainian is able to dictate play with his wonderous passing, while also providing a solid base from which Arsenal can defend from," the article notes.

The authors warn that Zinchenko's statistics at Arsenal should not mislead fans.

"Just one goal and two assists suggests he hasn't been as important for Arsenal as first indicated, but Zinchenko breaks lines with his passing, often weighting balls perfectly for Martin Odegaard between the opposition's midfield and defence, or lifting it delicately through to Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka. Without Zinchenko, there'd be a strong case to argue Arsenal wouldn't be in the position they currently are," the creators of the top 10 conclude.

The complete list of the best left defenders is as follows:

  1. Oleksandr Zinchenko (Arsenal)
  2. Luke Shaw (Manchester United)
  3. Theo Hernandez (AC Milan)
  4. Andrew Robertson (Liverpool)
  5. Alphonso Davies (Bayern Munich)
  6. Nathan Ake (Manchester City)
  7. Ferland Mendy (Real Madrid)
  8. Jordi Alba (Barcelona)
  9. Nuno Mendes (PSG)
  10. Ben Chilwell (Chelsea)

As OBOZREVATEL reported, the transfer value of Oleksandr Zinchenko increased by €8 million and reached 40 million. This is the third value in Ukraine's football history.

On March 5, the Ukrainian completed 59 successful passes in the final third of the field for the English Premier League's Week 26 match against Bournemouth. This was a record for the current season in the APL.

Recall that this is his sixth season for Oleksandr in the APL. This season he took part in 20 matches, scoring a goal and making two assists.
