Maria Zakharova becomes a laughingstock online

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova became a laughingstock online after she claimed that US intelligence agencies had developed a concept to counter Russian sports. Zakharova believes that the scandal surrounding the Moscow Anti-Doping Laboratory involving Grigory Rodchenkov is a purely political campaign that was coordinated by the State Department.

"It was a campaign with the participation of the US intelligence services, which developed the appropriate concept of using people who have sworn allegiance to the US regime as a counter to our sport," TASS quoted Zakharova as saying.

As "examples", the Russian Foreign Ministry representative cited the story of Juan Guaidó, who was "appointed by the Americans" as president of Venezuela, and Svetlana Tikhanovskaya, who was allegedly "appointed" president of Belarus.

"It's going to be quite large-scale, colourful - they will come up with symbols, slogans, etc. Just so everyone understands, this is a specially organised campaign that was developed within the US intelligence services. This is nothing new," Zakharova said.

Russian fans could not contain their emotions after such speeches by the diplomat.

"Oh, my God... well, you can't lose everything human and reasonable in yourself to such an extent...", "And this is an official of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. What a shame!" - fans write.

Sports fans from Russia are convinced that it is not the Americans but their own officials who do the most damage to the country.
