"We have done a lot": Zelensky calls on European Commissioners to start negotiations on Ukraine's accession to the EU this year. Video

President Volodymyr Zelensky addressed the College of European Commissioners, the political leadership of the European Commission, who are the commissioners from 27 EU countries. The Head of State called for the start of negotiations on Ukraine's accession to the European Union this year.
According to the President, Ukraine has been moving as quickly as possible to implement the seven recommendations of the European Commission, which were provided to enable a political decision to open membership negotiations this year. Zelensky said this during a meeting of the European Commission board (to watch the video, scroll to the bottom of the page).
The Head of State stated that the lack of geopolitical certainty has always been the greatest threat to Europe, as it attracted crises and tempted enemies of the European path to fight against European unity.
But now, Zelenskyy noted, Ukraine is a few geopolitical steps away from eliminating such a division. Therefore, Europe must seize the historic opportunity to address the lack of geopolitical certainty.
"All the free nations in Europe now clearly see the prospect for themselves - all the states in the Balkans, and the center and east of Europe. Ukraine, Moldova, Georgia, Belarus. We see that the old "gray" geopolitical zones will inevitably be replaced by a new power of a united Europe. This is one of the main fruits of our unity. The EU is conceived as a continental project, as a guarantor of good neighborliness between the peoples of Europe, and is gaining a well-deserved continental dimension. This is not a club for the elite, but a home for all Europeans who share common values," Zelensky said.
