He said he would make his official election prediction next month, but already now, according to the professor, most of the votes are tipping in favor of Harris and her victory. Factors that give Harris an advantage include the fact that she has not had a direct opponent and has not had much of a threat from third-party candidates so far.

In addition, Lichtman emphasized that the replacement of the Democratic candidate did not make major policy changes, so the vice president is not threatened by scandal or serious social unrest. Lichtman noted that with the transition from Biden to Harris as the presumptive nominee, Democrats lost only one advantage-the factor of the incumbent president.

At the same time, he noted that the Democrats managed to prevent further consequences as a result of the reshuffle, as the party overwhelmingly supported Harris instead of organizing chaotic open primaries or drawing other presidential candidates into the race at this late stage.
