Trump says the US is having "very constructive talks on Ukraine"

US President Donald Trump has once again stated that negotiations to resolve the Russian-Ukrainian war are already underway. At the same time, the head of the White House emphasized that the conversation is being held with both representatives of the Ukrainian authorities and representatives of the aggressor country, Russia.

Trump noted that the United States will seek solutions to quickly end the war in Ukraine and stop the loss of life on both sides. He said this during a joint press conference with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

According to the American president, his administration is talking to Russians and Ukrainians to end the war. He also compared the destruction of Ukrainian settlements to the situation in the Gaza Strip, where active hostilities have been going on for 15 months in a row.

"We are having very good negotiations, very constructive negotiations on Ukraine. And we are talking to the Russians, we are talking to the Ukrainian leadership. This would never have happened, this should not have happened. Every week I get reports on the number of soldiers, mostly soldiers now, and the cities that have been destroyed. They show a very sad sight. We are talking about Gaza. Many of these cities look as bad as Gaza," Trump said.

In addition, the US president noted that both Ukraine and Russia have lost hundreds of thousands of people in this war. According to Trump, the only thing that stops a bullet on the flat Ukrainian land is a human body.

"I want to see this end for one simple reason. The absolute destruction of the lives of young people on both sides. You have maybe 700 thousand dead Ukrainians, 800 thousand, maybe more, Russian soldiers. The ground is very flat there, and the only thing that can stop a bullet is a human body," the American president said.

Trump expressed confidence that the negotiations his administration is currently conducting with representatives of Russia and Ukraine will find a quick solution to end the war.

"We're having very good talks, and I think we're going to get there. I think something will happen, hopefully quickly. Something that you need. We cannot allow this to continue. This is an absolute slaughter that is happening on the beautiful agricultural land of Ukraine, and we have to stop it. We cannot allow this to continue. This is a human tragedy, and we will do everything we can to stop it," Trump said.

To recap, President Volodymyr Zelensky spoke about the first stages of cooperation between Ukraine and Donald Trump's team. According to him, negotiations have already taken place between the head of the President's Office, Andriy Yermak, and Trump's National Security Advisor, Mike Waltz.

Earlier, Zelensky said that the United States' contribution to Ukraine's defense and security is currently about 30%. The termination of US assistance is a big risk not only for Ukraine but also for European countries.

As OBOZ.UA reported, President Volodymyr Zelensky expressed his position on security guarantees for Ukraine. He said that nuclear weapons could be a sufficient guarantee of security if Ukraine does not join NATO.
