The US should continue supporting Ukraine as Russia intensifies cooperation with adversaries - ISW
The aggressor country Russia continues to side with anti-American forces despite dictator Vladimir Putin's attempts to demonstrate readiness for negotiations. In particular, the day before, the Russian leadership held a series of meetings with Chinese officials, claiming "unprecedented" heights in relations between Russia and China.
In turn, support for Ukraine remains a vital national security interest of the United States, as well as strong bilateral relations between the United States and Ukraine. This is stated in the analysis of the Institute for the Study of War.
The ISW noted that Russian Security Council Secretary Sergei Shoigu met with President of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinping and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi in Beijing on February 28 to discuss bilateral security, as well as international and regional issues. Representatives of Russia and China stressed the need to "continue coordinating efforts at key international platforms, including BRICS and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization."
In addition, the meeting between the officials included discussion of diplomatic efforts to "solve the Ukrainian crisis." At the same time, both sides boasted that they had reached "unprecedented" heights in their cooperation, and Russian propagandists emphasized Xi's statements about "close bilateral relations."
Representatives of the Kursk Oblast Chamber of Commerce also signed a cooperation agreement with the Pyongyang Chamber of Commerce and Industry to "develop bilateral economic ties and expand municipal production opportunities between Kursk Oblast and North Korean enterprise." In turn, Ukrainian officials are expanding cooperation with South Korea amid deepening Russian-North Korean ties and recent reports of a new wave of North Korean troop deployments in the Kursk region.
To recap, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that U.S. President Donald Trump is careful with Russian dictator Vladimir Putin and avoids using rhetoric against him that could offend the Kremlin leader.
Earlier, U.S. President Donald Trump said that the meeting between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Russian dictator Vladimir Putin would not be "amicable." According to Trump, they "don't like each other."
