The US says it does not mind if there is a mediator in the negotiations between Ukraine and Russia

The United States does not object to a third party being involved in the process of establishing peace in Ukraine. However, it must stand by Ukraine's territorial integrity and sovereignty within its internationally recognised borders.
This was stated by National Security Council Coordinator John Kirby on Tuesday, 20 June, at a press briefing in Washington.
According to him, Washington does not deny the role of a third party in the negotiations between Ukraine and Russia.
"But again, in order for this role to be sustainable and have a chance of success, it must begin with a full understanding of the Ukrainian perspective and a full and complete commitment to the UN Charter, the idea of territorial integrity, and the sovereignty of Ukraine along its internationally recognised borders," the Biden administration official said.
He also said that "the war in Ukraine is really about the idea of sovereignty and territorial integrity. It's really about the UN Charter."
According to him, it is important to preserve the order based on the rules established after World War II.
The US administration official also noted that the United States supports the Ukrainian formula for peace.
"We have repeatedly said that we support President Zelenskyy's vision of a just peace. And we've said many times that any decent discussion - whether it's at the summit or in smaller formats - any discussion will be welcome only if it's credible," the White House official said.
Kirby stressed that such discussions should be based on the restoration of Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity, and they should begin at least with a discussion of the 10-point proposal proposed by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
As reported by OBOZREVATEL, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said he would present a powerful new aid package to Ukraine on Wednesday, 21 June. He assured that the United States will support Kyiv as long as it takes. Blinken will announce the new aid package at a conference organised by Ukraine and the United Kingdom in London on 21-22 June.
