Sybiga calls for tougher sanctions against Russia: in what areas should pressure be increased
Ukraine's Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiga has said that sanctions against Russia can be made more effective. In his opinion, this can be done by strengthening law enforcement agencies, closing loopholes for the aggressor country, and increasing pressure on Russia.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs wrote about this in his post on platform X. He said that among the areas in which pressure on the occupying country should be increased are the shadow fleet, metallurgy, LNG, frozen assets, nuclear energy, military industry, IT, etc.
Earlier, OBOZ.UA reported that the European Union intends to impose restrictions on the Russian "shadow tanker fleet". Russia uses it to circumvent international sanctions.
This is the EU's response to the damage to power and data cables in the Baltic Sea by a ship from this fleet. The European Commission said in a statement that there is no threat to energy security in the region.
As a reminder, the U.S. Treasury Department has imposed sanctions on Iran and Russia for interfering in the U.S. presidential election.
