Sanctions against Poroshenko were imposed on the proposal of the Cabinet of Ministers: what they are trying to accuse the politician of
Sanctions against the MP and leader of the European Solidarity party Petro Poroshenko were imposed on February 12 at the request of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine. They relate to the episodes of "high treason," "participation in the creation of the Party of Regions" and "cooperation with the Russian Federation."
Criminal cases have been opened and are being investigated by law enforcement. This was reported to OBOZ.UA by government sources.
According to them, it was the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) that imposed lifetime sanctions against Poroshenko, as well as businessmen, former co-owners of Privatbank Ihor Kolomoiskyi and Hennadii Boholiubov, billionaire Kostiantyn Zhevago and former MP Viktor Medvedchuk, at a meeting on February 12.
It is emphasized that "all of them were acting in the interests of the Russian Federation," and therefore criminal cases have been opened and law enforcement agencies are investigating each episode.
According to sources, sanctions against Petro Poroshenko were imposed because of:
– a criminal case on high treason, when he, in collusion with Medvedchuk and the Russian leadership, "allowed" the energy company "Centrenergo" to buy coal from L/DPR. It is noted that this deprived Ukraine of its chances for energy independence from Russia for a long time;
– participation in the creation of the Party of Regions, as well as work in the government of Viktor Yanukovych, when he, as Minister of Foreign Affairs, participated in the preparation of the "Kharkiv agreements";
– cooperation with the Russian Federation (owning assets such as the "Roshen" factory in Lipetsk and "Sevmorzavod" in the temporarily occupied Crimea, Poroshenko was "interested" in continuing cooperation with Russia and deploying the Black Sea Fleet on the peninsula).
As reported by OBOZ.UA, on February 13, representatives of the opposition party European Solidarity in the Verkhovna Rada blocked the rostrum. In this way, they protested against sanctions against the leader of the political party.
Petro Poroshenko himself called the sanctions against him a provocation. He emphasized that the decision of the National Security and Defense Council was unconstitutional and politically motivated.
