Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said that the principle of territorial integrity should be the basis of any plan to resolve the war. According to him, Ukraine is currently negotiating this issue with China.
The head of the diplomatic department emphasized that Ukraine is in an active dialogue with China on the vision of ways to achieve peace. Kuleba said this in an interview with Ukrinform.
The minister noted that Kyiv is now trying to convince Beijing that the principle of territorial integrity is fundamental. Kuleba also emphasized that this principle should be the basis of any settlement plan.
"We are convinced that the Peace Formula is the basis that makes it possible to move towards a just peace based on the principle of territorial integrity and respect for the UN Charter," the Foreign Minister said.
He also explained that Ukraine and China are currently engaged in an active dialog on this topic. Kyiv has responded publicly to the China's stance, and this week, the first political consultations between the foreign ministries of the two countries in many years took place in Beijing.
"We are also convinced that China's participation in the Peace Summit would be the right step that would bring peace closer and demonstrate Beijing's truly balanced position on the Russian-Ukrainian war," Kuleba said.
Earlier, it was reported that it is important to show that the whole world supports the end of the war in Ukraine at the Peace Summit in Switzerland, which is scheduled for June 15-16. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy urged not to let Russia prevent this.
To recap, in late May, China officially announced that it would not participate in the Global Peace Summit. It said that its holding does not meet Beijing's requirements, namely that a representative of the aggressor country Russia should participate in the conference.
