Historic Ukraine Compact signed at NATO summit: main provisions of the document
The European Union and 21 nations have signed the Ukraine Compact, which will coordinate and accelerate their defense assistance to Ukraine. The document was signed on July 11 on the sidelines of the NATO summit in Washington.
This was reported on the website of the European Commission, which published the text of the agreement. It says that the signatories reaffirm that Ukraine's security is an integral part of the security of the Euro-Atlantic region and beyond and that they will support Ukraine until it defeats Russia's aggression.

The treaty was signed by the leaders of the United States, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Iceland, Italy, Japan, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Sweden and the United Kingdom, together with the President of the European Council, the President of the European Commission and the President of Ukraine.

The agreement provides for the implementation of the goals set out in the bilateral agreements of individual countries with Ukraine. The signatories undertake to:
– support Ukraine's defense and security needs, in particular through the continued provision of security and training assistance, modern military equipment, as well as defense industry and necessary economic support, working bilaterally and through existing multilateral mechanisms, including the Contact Group on Ukraine's Defense;
– accelerate efforts to build Ukrainian forces that will maintain a credible defense and deterrence posture through 2027, to extend into the 2030s. To this end, the Contact Group on Ukraine's Defense will convene every six months at the ministerial level to review and approve the development roadmap;
– in the event of a new Russian attack on Ukraine after the end of the current war, the signatory countries are obliged to meet quickly at the highest level to determine further steps to support Ukraine.

"We intend to fulfill these commitments with unwavering resolve, using a multilateral security architecture that supports Ukraine. The signatories of the Treaty plan to advance these commitments as Ukraine pursues its path to future membership in the EU and NATO," the document reads.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy called the signing of the treaty a success for Ukraine, saying: "This document is a success for Ukraine because it develops our security architecture. We will definitely fulfill every point – we have enough energy for this."
According to U.S. President Joe Biden, the Ukraine Compact unites allied states in a "single comprehensive security architecture." This will help protect Ukraine, in particular, in the long term.

As for the short term, the American leader said, "We will provide Ukraine with ammunition, weapons, and training to counter Russian aggression."
"In the medium term, we will help build up the army to defend Ukraine and deter new aggression. So that if Putin (Russian dictator Vladimir Putin – Ed.) decides to do it again, all countries will support it," Biden explained.
As reported by OBOZ.UA, NATO countries have agreed on the final declaration of the Washington summit of the Alliance. It says that the allies will commit to supporting Ukraine "on its irreversible path to full Euro-Atlantic integration, including NATO membership."
