The blogger who runs TheCleaningChannel, an Instagram account with cleaning tips, says this is a big mistake. It is imperative to have two sponges in the kitchen: one for dishes and a separate one for the sink.

This is because the sink where we collect used dishes and defrost and wash food is one of the dirtiest places in the house. For example, after raw meat, really dangerous bacteria can accumulate there. And food scraps are excellent food for their reproduction.

That's why you should only use a "dirty" sponge to clean your sink. You can use it to clean off food residues before putting the dishes in the dishwasher.

In turn, the "clean" sponge can only be used for hand washing dishes. Do not use it for any other purpose. This way, you will avoid the risk of bacteria infecting your plates and forks.
