Boxwood is an ornamental shrub that grows up to two meters in height. Landlords often use it for landscaping. It is an evergreen shrub, which will decorate your garden or yard even in winter.

Boxwood is better to trim twice a year to make it grow dense and lush. Cut them in April. If the winter was short and not very cold, it should be done in March. The second time to cut is preferably in the first half of August.
Cut off about 1/3 of the boxwood's length in summer. If you want to create a hedge from the plant, cut the top of the bush. Cut the shrub on each side immediately after planting to create a certain shape.

Old boxwood can also be rejuvenated with proper pruning. When the shrub has reached a sufficient height, all annual growths should be cut back in spring.
Old boxwood has thick and woody branches, which react differently to pruning than young bushes. That is why you should get rid of them during the second summer pruning. This will help to avoid cavities that ugly the plant.
