Ukrainian footballer killed in war with Russian occupiers

Volodymyr Kyrychuk, a pupil of the Veres Sports School and a former footballer of the Orzhiv-based ODEK FC, died defending Ukraine from the Russian invaders. The 23-year-old hero died on October 1 in a battle in the Kherson region.
When Kyrychuk and his comrades were being evacuated, their car exploded. At first, Volodymyr was considered missing. Later, DNA analysis confirmed that it was him.
Volodymyr Kyrychuk was born in the village of Ploske in Ostrohchyna (Rivne region), studied at a local school and later received a degree in Physical Education and Rehabilitation at the Demianchuk International University of Economics and Humanities. He played for Veres, Zvyagel, and ODEK.
The deceased defender is survived by his mother, disabled father and sister. Volodymyr was buried on December 4 in his native village.
