Part is already on the front line: the head of the French Ministry of Defense said that AMX 10-RC light tanks have arrived in Ukraine
French Defence Minister Sebastien Lecorniou has said that AMX 10-RC light tanks have already arrived in Ukraine. According to him, some of them are already on the front line.
This was reported by the French newspaper Le Figaro. "The AMX-10 RC reconnaissance armoured vehicles promised by France in early January have just arrived in Ukraine. Some have already gone to the front line," Lecornieu told the National Assembly Defence Commission on March 15, without specifying the number of vehicles delivered.
The supply came two months after the announcement that Ukrainian crews would be trained at the Saumur Cavalry School and Camp Canjuers.
The French army has 247 AMX-10s in service. These armoured reconnaissance vehicles have been in service with the Army since 1981 and were used during the first Gulf War, in Afghanistan and in the Sahel. These vehicles can be used for reconnaissance missions as well as fire support during combat.
This tank has a 105mm cannon, capable of firing at 2,000 metres, with an ammunition capacity of 38 rounds. It is also equipped with a 7.62 mm machine gun.
It is worth noting that Poland will hand over 4 MiG-29 fighters to Ukraine in the coming days. The rest of the combat aircraft are being serviced and prepared for dispatch.
