Former Ukrainian national team striker Artem Kravets said that after the start of the full-scale invasion, he decided to switch to Ukrainian because he simply could not do otherwise in the current situation. In an interview with Viktor Vatsko, the two-time Ukrainian champion with Dynamo admitted that he did not know why he had spoken Russian before.

"Our family has always spoken Russian. Why, I don't know. It just happened. It was the way we spoke in Kyiv. Not immediately, but after a few months we switched to Ukrainian. We just can't do otherwise," Artem said.

Earlier, the girlfriend of the Shakhtar footballer, who became famous throughout Ukraine after her fiery speech against the UOC-MP outside the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, said that she started speaking Ukrainian after her boyfriend shamed her.
