The spokesperson for the Eastern Group of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Serhiy Cherevaty, said that mercenaries of the Russian private military company Wagner had lost their resources to conduct combat operations in the Bakhmut area. Now, the Wagner mercenaries are forced to ask for support from the Russian regular army.

Cherevaty said this on Wednesday, March 29, on the broadcast of the national telethon "United News". According to him, the Wagner PMC suffers heavy losses every day and is no longer able to conduct offensive operations near Bakhmut on its own.

"Due to the daily losses of over a hundred, and sometimes more than two hundred killed, they lack personnel, even these former prisoners. We see that the dynamics are such that they are forced to be reinforced by units of the occupier's regular army," Cherevaty said.

According to the speaker, the Wagner mercenaries are asking the "second army of the world" for support from aviation and artillery, so they are by no means autonomous.

Cherevaty stressed that Wagner remains the main enemy force in the Bakhmut area, but the Russians have been trying to capture the town for nine months, and the Ukrainian Defence Forces are now stabilising the front.

Earlier, the Commander of the Land Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi, said that the Wagner mercenaries were suffering huge losses in the Bakhmut area and were running out of steam. The Ukrainian Defence Forces may soon take advantage of this.
