Simple home remedies can restore walls and ceilings to pristine cleanliness

Cleaning stains from walls and ceilings can be difficult, particularly because of the large surface area and difficult access. But stains are just as common and easy to spot there as they are at human height.

Fortunately, to simplify the fight against such contamination will help correctly selected to the type of stain means. They will get rid of the need for a long and thorough rubbing of the surface and easily remove all unnecessary traces. OBOZREVATEL publishes a list of such lifehacks.

Enzyme detergent against mold

If you have mold on your walls or ceiling, you probably want to get rid of it as soon as possible because it can be a health hazard. Enzymatic laundry detergent can help with this. Rub the mold stains with such a product, and then rinse them with clean water.

An important nuance - before cleaning, make sure that you use exactly the enzyme detergent and check on an inconspicuous area to see if it affects the wall covering in an undesirable way.

Toothpaste vs. pencils

Put some paste on an old toothbrush and rub the pencil marks on the wall in a circular motion. You can also apply the product with a damp cloth. After cleaning, the only thing left to do is to rinse off the remnants of the product.

The main precautions in this case - do not use gel paste and avoid colored variants. A plain white product will work best. Ideally - made on the basis of baking soda.

Soda paste against hard dirt

If the stain on the wall was left by a hard substance, such as food, use a soft abrasive to remove the residue. Such an abrasive is baking soda. Prepare a thick paste from two parts of powder and one part of water and immediately apply it to the traces you want to get rid of. Leave the remedy for about an hour, then with a damp cloth or soft brush rub the dirty place and wash off the remains of the soda. If the stain does not disappear from the first time, repeat the procedure until you get rid of it completely.

Tea tree oil against sticky substances

Stickers, gum, slime or food mixes seem to stick permanently to the walls. Trying to rub them off with a rag only causes fibers to stick to the sticky substance and makes things worse. Easily cope with the problem will help tea tree oil, which will dissolve the pollutant. To remove small sticky stains, a few drops on a cotton disk is enough. For larger areas, dilute the oil with water and gently wipe off the adhesive with a microfiber cloth. On thick layers of sticky stains, it is better to leave the oil on for a while so that it has time to break down the contaminant in depth.

Chalk against grease

Chalk is a superabsorbent and thanks to its porous structure, it removes stains easily. It will work instantly on fresh stains, with older ones you'll have to be a little patient. Start by blotting the grease with a towel or paper until the area is as dry as possible. Then, using white chalk for the chalkboard (not colored or sidewalk chalk) completely cover the stain by simply "sketching" it. Give the chalk 10 minutes to set and wipe it off. You can repeat this process if necessary, but don't rub the chalk into the wall or press too hard because you may damage the wall or rub the grease deeper.

Laundry conditioner as an all-purpose cleaner

If the stains on the walls are not too complicated, a solution of laundry conditioner will help to cope with them. Dilute it with water in equal proportions and apply it with a sprayer to the stain. And then just wipe it with a microfiber cloth. You can also just dab a cloth with this solution.

A slice of bread against fingerprints

If someone has left fingerprints on your walls, stale bread can help remove them. Take a dried slice and gently blot the dirty spot with it. Do not squeeze the bread to prevent it from crumbling. To prevent this, you can moisten the slice slightly with water beforehand. The bread should act like a sponge to absorb the skin grease.

Sunscreen against permanent marker

Such "art" on the walls and furniture terrifies parents, because it is almost impossible to wash off the marker. Unless you are armed with sunscreen or spray. It dissolves the pigment well and at the same time is delicate enough not to damage the wall covering. Simply apply some cosmetic product to the marks and wipe it off with a paper towel after a few minutes. Finally, rinse the treated area with soapy water.

A mixture of bleach and water against flood marks

Unsightly red water stains on walls and ceilings are quite difficult to remove. But a mixture of chlorine bleach and water can cope with them. Dilute the two liquids in equal proportions and apply the mixture to the stain with a sprayer. As it dries, the trace will lighten. If necessary, the procedure can be repeated. But do not forget to cover the furniture and floor with something when carrying out such works.
