How to quickly clean a clogged sink: ways plumbers use

Yulia PoteriankoLife
Four methods can be used in stages

Clogged drains are common in any home. Active use of sinks and sinks leads to the accumulation of hair, pet hair, food debris and other contaminants in the pipes. Their timely removal will help to avoid serious problems and get rid of such troubles as slow water drainage and unpleasant odors.

And you can do it without aggressive chemicals that are sold in stores. The Express has collected a few tips from professional plumbers on the subject.

Use boiling water

Boiling water is good for breaking through uncomplicated clogs. Simply boil water in a kettle or pot and, while it's still bubbling, gently pour it straight down the drain. Start slowly to avoid splashing or scalding, and then with a stronger stream. If the clog is minor, hot water can help clear it and clean the drain, especially if it's soap or hair residue.

Combine the power of baking soda and vinegar

If the steep boiling water trick doesn't work, it will still rinse some of the debris from the pipe and prepare it for the baking soda and vinegar. Take 0.5 cup of baking soda and gently pour it into the drain, then leave it for a few minutes. Then mix one cup of white vinegar with a cup of hot water and pour it down the drain to the baking soda. Then quickly close the drain with a plug or cloth to create pressure. The baking soda and vinegar will react, start to foam, and punch through the clog. After about 15 minutes, the pipe can be flushed with running water. You can also do the first rinse with boiling water.

Mechanically clean the pipe with a plunger

The first two methods did not bring the desired result? A good old-fashioned plunger will help you finish the job. Close the drain hole and pour so much water into the sink that it covers the rubber part of the tool. Let a small amount of water penetrate into the pipe and make a few pushing and pulling movements with the plunger. This will create pressure in the pipe, which will pull the clog out of it. After that, flush the pipe. Again, boiling water is good for this, which also disinfects the pipe.

Remove the clog with a plumbing rope

This method of mechanical pipe cleaning works the deepest and is designed for clogs that none of the previous methods have dealt with. The rope is turned inside the sewer pipe through the drain and when it reaches the clog, it rotates clockwise several times. Gradually it pushes the dirt piece by piece further, but it is important to do everything carefully so as not to damage the walls of the pipe. After cleaning the drain is rinsed with plenty of water. In particular, you can use boiling water.
