How to get blood stains out of clothes: a kitchen product will help

Imagine the situation: on a hot summer evening, you swat at a mosquito, and in its place remains a large bloody stain, because the insect has already had time to drink. Or you were not too careful in the kitchen and cut yourself with a knife. Or scratched on branches on a walk. Situations when you need the skill to remove blood stains from fabrics, there may be many. And there are not many ways to cope with the problem.
OBOZREVATEL tells about a very effective know-how. For it you will need only simple and environmentally friendly products that can be found in any home.
Soak in cold
The first step to cleaning blood stains is to soak clothes in cold water. If you soak it in hot water, the blood proteins will quickly curdle and the stain will be permanently embedded in the fabric. When most of the stain is washed away, blot the stain with a paper towel to absorb the rest. Never rub it.
Apply baking soda paste
A common baking soda is good for dealing with traces of blood. It should be mixed with water to the consistency of a paste, for example, in the proportion of 2 tablespoons of baking soda per 1 spoon of water, and apply it to the stain. You can rub it gently with your fingers or a soft brush. Next, let the paste dry on a cloth - it will absorb all the residue. Then rinse off the baking soda and wash the thing in the machine.
Boost the baking soda with peroxide
If baking soda paste doesn't work, this remedy can be strengthened with hydrogen peroxide. But this trick is more suitable for light-colored fabrics. It can discolor dark fabrics. Soak the stain again in cold water and then treat it with a cotton pad soaked in peroxide. Then you can rub the stain with a drop of dishwashing liquid to be sure, and then apply baking soda paste at the end.
Baking soda and vinegar for tufted fabrics
If the blood stain has appeared on tufted fabric, including carpet, it is better to combine baking soda with vinegar. Start by rinsing the stain with cold water, then apply a paste of baking soda and splash it with white vinegar. The two substances will immediately react and form an active foam that pushes all the dirt out of the pile.
