How to clean a fabric sofa: a home trick

The sofa is the center of attraction of any interior. It's where people nap when they have a moment, have dinner while watching TV shows, drink wine with friends and play with children and pets. It's no wonder that stains quickly appear on the upholstery of this piece of furniture.
Fighting these stains can be difficult if the sofa is upholstered in fabric. However, experts recommend performing preventive cleaning from time to time to keep it hygienic as long as possible. OBOZREVATEL has collected a few lifehacks how to do it more effectively.
Clean your sofa regularly with a vacuum cleaner
Sofa gets dusty quickly like any other furniture. Crumbs and other small debris accumulate in its crevices. Therefore, the sofa should be regularly cleaned. To do this, it is best to use a special nozzle for upholstered furniture. Special attention is advised to pay to the gaps between the cushions, the fold between the back and seat and the edges of the sofa. If your sofa has wooden legs or frame, wipe them with a damp cloth to remove dust.
Remove stains properly
Dry cleaning won't get rid of stains. They will have to be dealt with separately. Always pick up wet dirt as soon as it hits the upholstery with dry cloths or paper towels. Wash the stain with a solution of detergent in water. If you doubt which detergent is best for cleaning upholstery, check the sofa care label or consult the manufacturer.
Before applying the cleaning solution, test the sofa in an inconspicuous area to make sure it won't damage or discolor the fabric. If there are no problems, dampen the upholstery with the detergent solution and gently rub the stain from the edges to the center. After treatment, use another damp cloth to remove any detergent residue.
If the stain is persistent, you can use a solution of white vinegar and water in equal parts to get it out. Mix the remedy and spray it on the stain. Leave it for a few minutes to work and gently blot the residue with a clean, damp cloth. Repeat the process as many times as necessary to remove any vinegar residue from the upholstery.
You can also machine wash the sofa cover if it is possible to remove it. In this case, choose a delicate program and low water temperature and take the product in accordance with the instructions for upholstery care.
Use the power of steam
A steam cleaner is another good way to clean your sofa. Steam allows you to push dust and dirt out of the upholstery, breaks down stains well, refreshes and sanitizes the fabric. Before using the device, make sure the sofa is free of dust and crumbs. Then use the steamer to clean the fabric in the direction of the fibers. After treatment, let the sofa dry completely before using it again.
