Eggplants need to be fed four times per season: what fertilisers will increase the yield
Eggplants need to be fed regularly, because if nutrients are deficient, the growth rate begins to slow down dramatically. If the root system does not receive enough fertiliser, it becomes frail and weak. Vegetables themselves become very vulnerable to diseases and pests without fertilisation.
Experienced gardeners recommend feeding aubergines according to a special scheme - four times a season. OBOZREVATEL describes each of these stages in detail.
First feeding
The first feeding is carried out no later than 2 weeks after planting the seedlings in the beds. At the stage of active development, aubergines need to build up green mass and get a lot of nutrients.
To fertilise, you need to mix:
- 25 g of ammonium nitrate;
- 15 g of potassium sulfate;
- 30 g of superphosphate.
Pour these fertilisers with ten litres of cool water, mix thoroughly and water the young bushes.
Second feeding
As soon as the ovary appears on the eggplant, you should start the second feeding. It is very simple to prepare: fill a 10-litre bucket with water, add 1 tablespoon of potassium sulphate and water the bushes.
After watering, when the solution is well absorbed, loosen the soil and pour 1/2 teaspoon of superphosphate under each bush. These granules must be sprinkled with earth.
Third and fourth top dressing
The third and fourth feeding is needed at the stage when the fruits have already formed. Fertiliser made from banana peels will be useful - they need to be cut into small pieces, covered with water and insisted on for several days. The proportions are as follows: take 6 banana peels for a three-litre jar of water.
It is recommended to water eggplants with this solution at the rate of one litre per bush. Repeat the procedure in a few weeks - this will be the fourth feeding.
