"The water in which buckwheat is cooked absorbs all the nutrients of this cereal. Therefore, during cooking, you should calculate the amount of water so as not to drain it. The ideal proportion is 1:2.5 (1 part buckwheat and 2.5 parts water)," Fus said.

"Buckwheat is used not only for porridge but in baking to replace wheat flour. Buckwheat does not contain gluten, which is the best option for people who suffer from gluten intolerance," the expert said.

How to cook buckwheat correctly

You can also eat buckwheat with tomatoes and feta cheese, and if you wish, you can dilute the flavor with olives: this will make it taste like a Greek salad, but much more satisfying. Buckwheat can also be used to make risotto by adding mushrooms. Buckwheat also goes well with peaches, blueberries, walnuts, and arugula.
