Tastier than pizza: Snail pie made of puff pastry with a delicious filling
Appetizer pies are an ideal dish that can be an alternative to bread, and they can also be prepared instead of pizza. You can use any dough for the base, from yeast to puff pastry and even pita bread. The filling can be: fish, meat, vegetables, herbs, boiled eggs, green onions, tuna in oil.
Cook Iryna shared a recipe for a delicious spinach and cheese pie on Instagram, based on puff pastry.
Ingredients:
- puff pastry - 300-350 g
- Feta cheese or cheddar cheese - 300-350 g
- spinach - 1 package
- eggs - 1 pc.
- oil - 1 tbsp
- sesame seeds - a handful
Method of preparation:
1. Simmer the spinach in a frying pan until soft in 1 tablespoon of oil.
2. Put it in a bowl, add grated cheese and white of 1 egg, and mix.
3. Roll out the puff pastry to a thickness of about 4 millimeters and cut into strips 3-4 centimeters wide.
4. Put the filling on each strip of dough and pinch the edges. Next, place the tubes in the shape of a snail. Pinch the ends of the tubes together.
5. Add 1 tbsp of water to the yolk, mix and brush the pie on top, sprinkle with sesame seeds.
6. Bake the pie for 20-25 minutes at 190 C.
