Tastier than any spread: healthy homemade hummus from budget ingredients
Hummus is a very tasty oriental appetizer, which is prepared from chickpeas in the classic version. Add garlic, herbs and olive oil for a brighter flavor.
- chickpeas - 300 g
- baking soda - 1.5 tsp.
- olive oil - 4 tbsp.
- zira - 1-2 tsp.
- juice of 1 lemon
- salt - 1 tsp.
- garlic - 3-4 cloves.
- smoked paprika - 1.5 tsp.
- tahini - 3 tbsp.
Method of preparation:
1. Add 1 tsp. of baking soda to chickpeas, pour cold water and send overnight in the refrigerator. After draining the water, rinse it several times, add baking soda and pour water again. Cook on medium heat until ready (1-1.5 hours). Drain the rest of the water into a separate bowl.
2. Add olive oil, salt, zira, garlic, smoked paprika and lemon juice to the cooked chickpeas and blend until smooth. If the hummus is too thick, add water left from cooking the chickpeas.
Drizzle ready hummus with olive oil and sprinkle with chopped herbs.
