Soft and puffy poppy seed buns: a recipe for the perfect dough that is always successful
Homemade puffed buns are an ideal alternative to pies and dumplings. They can be made with any filling, sweet or savory. To make them puffy, the most important thing is to prepare a successful dough.
For the dough:
- flour - 300 g
- milk - 130 ml
- eggs - 1 pc.
- sugar - 2 tbsp.
- salt - a pinch
- dry yeast - 2 tbsp.
- butter - 30 g
For the filling:
- poppy seeds - 100 g
- milk - 200 ml
- vanilla - to taste
1. Sift flour, add milk at room temperature, sugar, a pinch of salt and egg for the dough. Mix well, add yeast and knead the dough. Add melted butter and knead the dough again. Cover and leave for 30 minutes in a warm place.
2. Fill poppy seeds with milk, add vanilla if desired and cook over low heat until milk evaporates. Beat in a blender with sugar.
3. Sprinkle the surface and the rolling pin with flour and roll out the dough. Spread the filling in an even layer over the dough, roll up and cut into a roll. Brush the top with egg.
4. Bake the buns for 20 minutes at 180 C. Keep an eye on your oven until the buns are golden.
