Pickled garlic with red currants for the winter as a delicious appetizer

Garlic is an ideal ingredient for meat dishes and salads. It is also always added to preserves and marinated as a separate appetizer.

Cook Yulia shared on Instagram a recipe for delicious pickled garlic with red currants for winter.

Ingredients:

  • garlic - 12-14 heads
  • red currants - 500 g
  • salt - 3 tbsp.
  • sugar - 6 tbsp.
  • handful of black pepper peas
  • cup of 9% vinegar

Method of preparation:

1. Separate garlic into cloves. Transfer garlic into sterilized jars and add currants.

2. Mix water with sugar, salt and pepper for the marinade. Bring to a boil, simmer for 5 minutes, smother berries and simmer for 2 more minutes. Strain, return the marinade to the pot, add the remaining sugar, salt and vinegar, bring to a boil and simmer for 1 minute.

3. Pour boiling marinade over garlic and cover with lids. Turn the jars upside down, let them cool and put them in the refrigerator or cellar.
