How to pickle salaca at home: recipe for tasty and budget fish

Salaca is ideal for making delicious and healthy sandwiches and spreads. It can be deliciously salted, with spices and herbs, and must be properly cleaned, removing all the insides and heads.

Chef Valeriy Ponomar shared a recipe for pickled  salaca with hot peppers, oil, and herbs on Instagram.

Recipe of the dish

Ingredients:

  • Lettuce - 400 g.
  • Hot pepper - 1/2 pc.
  • Garlic - 4-5 cloves.
  • Parsley bunch - 1.5 tbsp. l
  • Salt - 1 tsp.
  • Lemon juice - 1/2 pc.
  • Olive oil - 150 ml (first pressing)

Method of preparation:

1. Clean the fish from the insides, remove the head and backbone, it is more convenient to clean with scissors, so you do not damage the product. Also remove the black film.

2. Grind pepper, garlic, and parsley with salt and lemon juice to maximize flavor and aroma.

Sauce for a dish

3. Mix with olive oil and put the cleaned fish in the marinade, the fish should be covered with oil, you can also use any jar. Marinate in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight.

Cooking fish

Serve the fish with black bread and sprinkle with herbs!
