How to cook compote correctly so that it does not turn into mush: useful tips

Berry and fruit compotes are easy to prepare. Just choose any berries, bring water to a boil and add sugar to taste. However, very often compotes do not turn out tasty because of the foam that is formed during cooking and which is not removed. It gives unpleasant bitterness.
FoodOboz editors share useful tips on how to brew delicious, flavorful compote from berries and fruits.
1. Compote of berries
Berries for compote should be well washed and cleaned from leaves, twigs and pips. After transferring them to a saucepan, add sugar, pour water and bring to a boil. Be sure to remove the foam.
2. Fruit compote
Wash the fruit, cut, remove the seeds and pips. Put the fruit in a saucepan, pour sugar and water. Bring to the boil and cook for 25 minutes, then turn off the heat and leave to infuse.
Important: if the compote is made of several types of fruit, you should first put the fruit that cooks longer, for example pears and apples. Pour sugar to taste on top, fill with water and simmer for 25-30 minutes.
Tips:
- Choose ripe and bright berries for compote, as they will give a very pleasant taste and aroma.
- Do not use spoiled berries and fruit for making compote.
- Instead of sugar, you can sweeten the compote with honey.
