Cream cheese onion pie: tastier and easier than pizza

If you like homemade savory pies, you should know that you can use any kind of dough for the base, including shortcrust pastry. And for the filling, you can take not only minced meat, seafood, and fish, but also greens, cheese, and it will also be delicious with fried onions.

Chef Volodymyr Yaroslavskyi shared a recipe for a delicious onion and cheese pie on Instagram.

Pie recipe

Ingredients:

Dough:

  • 210 g flour
  • 140 g of butter 82.5% of
  • 60 g of ice water
  • 10 g of lemon juice
  • salt

Filling:

  • 25 g butter
  • 400 g of onions
  • 140 g of bacon
  • 3 eggs
  • 300 g of cream 30%
  • 70+30 g of Dorblu cheese
  • nutmeg

Method of preparation:

1. Add the chopped pieces of butter to the flour and chop everything with a knife until the dough turns into crumbs. Add salt, water, lemon juice and quickly mix the dough, gather it and fold it 3-4 times. Wrap it in plastic wrap and put it in the refrigerator for 30 minutes. Then take out the dough and roll it out into a thin layer, put it in a baking dish with parchment and bake for 25 minutes at 180 C.

2. Fry the chopped onion in butter over medium heat, add the bacon and nutmeg, cool.

3. Mix the cream with the eggs, add the onion, 70 g of cheese in large pieces, nutmeg and Dorblu cheese slices on top, pour over the dough and bake for 25 minutes at 175 C.
