The 2023 Eurovision Song Contest participant from Moldova, Pasha Parfeni, who performed in the first semi-final of the contest and reached the final, has many relatives living in Ukraine. As it became known, his grandmother is from Vinnytsia. Also, many of the musician's friends are currently defending the honour of our country on the battlefield.
The singer said that since 2014 he has been with Ukrainians with all his heart, Suspilne.Eurovision reports. He assured: Moldova is a small country, but its citizens are always ready to help us (to see photos and videos, scroll to the bottom of the page).
"Friends, you are doing a great job. My grandmother is from Vinnytsia. Many of my relatives and friends are in Ukraine right now. They are struggling, they are facing many difficulties. Moldova is a small country, but with a big heart. We are always ready to help you. Since 2014, I have always supported you with all my heart," Parfeni said.
In the first semi-final of the international competition, the 36-year-old performed a song called Soarele și Luna, the lyrics of which were written by his wife Yuliana Scutari. The audience remembered Pasha's performance due to its expressive ethnic motifs and the drum and flute accompaniment. The man sang about the sun and moon, which bless the couple's union.
By the way, the vocalist has already stood on the Eurovision stage, representing Moldova at the 2012 contest in Baku, where he took 11th place with his song Lăutar. He decided to try his hand again.
The second semi-final of the contest will take place on Thursday, May 11. It is scheduled to start at 22:00 Kyiv time. 16 countries will present their songs. However, Ukraine's performance will have to wait until Saturday, May 13, as TVORCHI duo went straight to the final as winners.
