Chef Roberto Linguanotto, who is considered the "father" of the exquisite Tiramisu dessert, has died in Italy. The legendary chef was 81 years old.

The man had been ill for a long time, which was the cause of his death, but nothing is known about his illness. This was reported by Corriere della Sera.

"We remember him with love and the gentleness that always characterized his demeanor. He and his family have supported us from the very beginning, and we are grateful to him because, without his invention, this global movement of tiramisu lovers would not exist," said Francesco Redi, organizer of the World Tiramisu Championship.

Roberto Linguanotta's name is inextricably linked to tiramisu, a dessert consisting of Savoyardi biscuits soaked in coffee, Mascarpone cheese, and a small amount of cocoa. It is in this dessert that the style of Italian food can be clearly traced.

Linguanotto developed the recipe while working at Le Beccherie restaurant. It was even notarized by three members of the delegation of the Italian Academy of Cooking in Treviso, Italy. The dish was added to the restaurant's menu in 1972.

Alba, the wife of Le Beccherie's owner, came up with the idea to create an exquisite dessert made of cookies and delicate cream in the 1950s. However, instead of the usual Mascarpone cheese, she planned to use sabayon, an egg cream with wine, rum, and cinnamon. But Linguanotto decided that cream cheese would be a better combination.

It is known that the name of the dessert tiramisù means "lift me up". No wonder, because this simple dish has become a real work of art, known all over the world.
