Russian occupation forces have moved speedboats from Crimea to the Kinburn and Tendra spits in Mykolaiv and Kherson regions. The Russians fear a possible offensive by the Defense Forces, in particular, the forcing of the Dnipro River.

This was stated by Vladyslav Voloshyn, a spokesman for the Southern Defense Forces, on the air of FREEDOM on Friday, November 1. According to him, the troops of the aggressor country have deployed a battery of river speedboats from Sevastopol to improve the defense of this territory.

"The enemy is afraid that we will force the Dnipro River and take control of the spits, organize a bridgehead for further offensive," Voloshyn explained.

According to him, the occupiers are conducting reconnaissance by combat in small infantry groups of 5-10 people on the Dnipro River in Kherson region.

"They want to seize small bridgeheads to draw as many of our forces as possible there and threaten our settlements located on the right bank of the Dnipro from there. They are still constantly attacking Kherson from the air, but the shelling will intensify during the seizure of the bridgeheads. This is a tactic of terrorism against civilians," said the spokesman for the Southern Defense Forces.

It should be noted that during the Ukrainian Armed Forces' counteroffensive in November 2022, the Kinburn Spit remained the only part of Mykolaiv region captured by Russian troops. On August 12, 2024, the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine raised the flag of Ukraine on the Kinburn Spit, but the territory of the spit remains under Russian occupation.

According to the military, the Kinburn Spit should be liberated, then there will be a chance for Mykolaiv port to start working and join the ports of Odesa. It is valuable to the enemy because it allows them to shell the Kutsurubska and Ochakivska communities of Mykolaiv region and keep the northwestern part of the Black Sea under tension.

The Tendra Spit is a narrow spit island about 65 km long and up to 1.8 km wide. The spit is located in the northern part of the Black Sea, off the coast of Kherson region.

As OBOZ.UA reported, in October 2024, Russian troops suffered significant losses. A record has been set for the number of destroyed armored combat vehicles of the occupiers since the beginning of the full-scale war.
