"I don't. They say I envy him": Russian champion and favorite of Kadyrov spoke about Usyk

Absolute world light heavyweight champion Artur Beterbiev (21-0, 20 KOs) does not see any possibility of a fight with Oleksandr Usyk (22-0, 14 KOs). The 39-year-old Dagestani, who is shamefully hiding in the ring under the Canadian flag, said he was not going to move up to another division.

Beterbiev said this during a press conference in Ufa, mma.metaratings.ru reports. The Russian was noted for his strange reasoning that he was accused of being jealous of Usyk, and also praised the Ukrainian for his phenomenal success in the heavyweight and super heavyweight weight categories, where Oleksandr has collected all the belts.

"I don't like this topic at all, and then everyone says I envy him. He's good, he's done his job. Now I say that, of course, I would like to box with him, and they will start saying that I'm a little guy, climbing on such a cool boxer. I don't like these conversations. Most likely, I will never move to heavyweight. I like to be light, I don't like to be heavy," said Beterbiyev, who praises Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov.

At the same time, he expressed his readiness to fight against Usyk. It should be noted that the boxers have met several times at the amateur level. In 2007, at a tournament in Kaliningrad, the Russian won 12:10, and the Ukrainian took revenge in the quarterfinals of the 2011 World Cup and the 2012 Olympics with the same score of 17:13.

Because of these defeats, Beterbiev harbored a grudge against Usyk and accused him of cowardice. And after Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, he called Oleksandr sick because of his position against the aggressors.
