The situation caused a strong reaction in Russia

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) is ready to receive data on Russians who support the war from Ukraine, Serhii Bubka said at the General Assembly of the Ukrainian NOC, which was held online the day before. According to the former head of the NOC of Ukraine, this issue has already been discussed with the IOC.

"I would like us to create an effective and powerful monitoring system, and we said that federations should monitor and provide information to the Ministry of Sports and NOCs. In this way, we have to pass this information on to the IOC," Serhii said.

This situation caused a real panic among the Russian media. The Kremlin's main propaganda outlet, RIA Novosti, wrote that "this will not bring anything good."

As reported by OBOZ.UA, on December 8, the International Olympic Committee allowed Russian and Belarusian athletes to participate in the 2024 Olympic Games in a neutral status. At the same time, it is only about individual types of the program, and the athletes themselves must meet certain criteria.

In particular, they must not be affiliated with Russian law enforcement agencies or support military operations.
