Chuprynko ignored the Iranian

Ukrainian powerlifter Ivan Chuprynko defiantly refused to shake hands with an athlete from Iran at the World Bench Press Championships in South Africa. In this way, our compatriot demonstrated his attitude towards the representative of a country that is actively assisting Russia in the war.

Chuprynko performed well at the tournament and won two gold medals at once. In the 74kg weight category, the Ukrainian won gold, and in addition, Ivan became the absolute world champion with a fantastic result of 300.5kg, which was a new record.

The Ukrainian came to the award ceremony together with local powerlifter Marcel Forster and Iranian Amir Reza Mesforoush. After receiving the gold medal, Chuprynko shook hands with the South African athlete and did not even turn towards Mesforoush.

The Iranian representative tried to shake hands with Ivan twice, but he made it clear that he would not do so. Mesforoush shrugged his shoulders in response, not understanding the Ukrainian's action.

As reported by OBOZREVATEL, the International Taekwondo Federation (World Taekwondo) launched an investigation into Russia after the local national association enrolled the federation of the temporarily occupied Crimea.
