"Sectarians, scoundrels, fraudsters": Russian Olympic champion lashes out at the IOC and calls the West aggressive and unhappy
The President of the Russian Wrestling Federation (FSBI), Mikhail Mamiashvili, has issued another batch of selective nonsense about Western countries being aggressive towards Russia. The former athlete lashed out at the International Olympic Committee (IOC), accusing the organization of allegedly imposing unfair sanctions.
Mamiashvili said this in a comment to the propaganda news agency RIA Novosti. According to the Seoul '88 Olympic champion, the IOC is allegedly under the influence of global politicians, while in Russia people have freedom of choice, which is an absolute lie.
"Just imagine: a bunch of sectarians, scoundrels, fraudsters have become a monopolist in an action of global significance, the roots of which go back centuries. Just imagine the degree of their cynicism: we take some people to the Olympics, we don't take others, we see something in some people, and we don't notice it in others... And a question of great importance arises: do we need such an Olympics with such people? The country's leadership does not put any pressure on us. And when I tell my foreign colleagues about this, they look at me with square eyes. How unhappy they are! We have known each other for 45 years, and I tell them: I feel sorry for you, you live in such a totally aggressive paradigm," Mamiashvili said.
Earlier, Olympic champion Svetlana Zhurova accused the IOC of humiliating Russians and treating them "like second-class citizens." In his turn, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov commented on the participation of Russian athletes in the 2024 Olympics with the words "spawn of hell".
As OBOZ.UA previously reported, the head of the All-Russian Rhythmic Gymnastics Federation Irina Viner called neutral Russian athletes a "team of homeless people."
