Former President of the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) Leonid Tyagachev called the performance of athletes from Russia at international competitions under a neutral flag humiliating. He added that the decision on participation in tournaments, in particular the 2024 Olympic Games, will be made by "our government.

Tyagachev said this in an interview with the propaganda TV channel RTVI. The former skier noted that "it is unknown what we will tell our children next" if the aggressor country agrees to the conditions of admission, which were previously promulgated by the International Olympic Committee (IOC).

"We have come to a point where neither the president of the ROC nor the minister can answer. Ultimately, it's up to our government to decide everything. Because there's no other way. We have already been involved in such a situation - and they have already surrounded us from all sides. Nobody knows what flag they will give us, and nobody knows what we will tell our children next. This is not a normal phenomenon. It's something that we have to put up with over time. It's humiliation on the one hand. And the other side is an opportunity to participate," Tyagachev said.

Recall that the International Olympic Committee (IOC) has recommended that federations suspend from competition Russian athletes related to the Russian army and security forces, as well as team sports.

As reported by OBOZREVATEL, the president of the Russian Ice Hockey Federation (RHF) Vladislav Tretiak demanded the return of the aggressor country to international competitions, as "sport is an ambassador for peace."
