"We will ask Europe to do it": Trump says US won't give Ukraine too many security guarantees

Oleksiy LutykovPolitics

US President Donald Trump has said that his country is not going to provide Ukraine with too many security guarantees. The head of the White House noted that this burden should be borne by European countries.

At the same time, Trump promised to make sure that "everything goes well." The American president said this at his first meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers.

According to Trump, security guarantees for Ukraine can only be discussed after an agreement is reached to end the war. He added that Europe, as Ukraine's neighbor, should take care of the issue of such guarantees.

"Well, I'm not going to give too many security guarantees. We will make Europe do it because it is, you know, their neighbor. But we're going to make sure that everything goes well," Trump said.

As a reminder, President Volodymyr Zelensky said that preparations for talks with White House President Donald Trump are underway and confirmed his visit to the United States on Friday, February 28. The most important thing for Ukraine is that Washington's assistance is not stopped.

Earlier, Zelenskyy said that he would maintain the maximum number of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to protect the interests of the state. He emphasized that the Ukrainian army would be the main guarantee of security.
