The court arrested MP from OPFL Ponomaryov, who collaborated with the occupiers: all the circumstances of the case
The court sent MP from the banned OPFL party Oleksandr Ponomaryov to a pre-trial detention centre for two months without the right to be released on bail. He is suspected of high treason.
The relevant decision was made by the Pechersk District Court of the capital. This was reported by the Office of the Prosecutor General.
"At the request of the prosecutors of the Prosecutor General's Office, the Pechersk District Court imposed a pre-trial restraint on the MP of the VII, VIII, IX convocations of the banned OPFL political party - detention without bail," the statement said.
After the hearing, Ponomaryov commented on the court's decision. He stated that the prosecutor's office allegedly failed to present any charges of his collaboration with the enemy.
"I consider this case to be a political order, fabricated out of thin air," he added.
The day before, Oleksandr Ponomaryov was suspected of high treason. According to the investigation, the MP, being in the occupied territory of Zaporizhzhia region, voluntarily cooperated with the aggressor.
The SBI said that on the first day of the invasion, the MP left Kyiv for occupied Berdiansk, where he tried to preserve his own wealth. In the occupied territory, the MP even had protection from the invaders, visited the occupied Crimea and the Russian Federation, but later decided to return to Kyiv due to commercial disputes with the invaders.
As OBOZREVATEL previously reported:
- In 2018, Ponomaryov was involved in a scandal after he attacked a journalist on the sidelines of parliament and took his phone.
- In March 2022, Berdiansk reported Ponomaryov's alleged abduction. Employees of his businesses in the city stopped working because of the owner's disappearance.
