Zelensky announces a corridor for grain exports

Ukraine will soon launch a new grain corridor through Moldova and Romania. This export route will be important not only for Ukraine and its partner countries but also for global food security.

This was stated by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky at a briefing following talks with his Romanian counterpart Klaus Iohannis. The meeting took place on October 10 in Bucharest.

"A grain corridor from Ukraine through Moldova to Romania will soon be launched... This will be of great importance not only for us but also for Europe and the world as a whole," Zelensky said.

According to him, the "grain corridor" is a vivid illustration of what economic cooperation in the Ukraine-Romania-Moldova format can be. Zelensky noted that joint projects will create a "very powerful basis" not only for the development of these three countries but also for the development of the whole of Europe.

He clarified that cooperation will help all three countries revitalize their economies. In particular, it provides incentives for business and infrastructure development, which, in turn, helps create additional jobs.

As reported by OBOZREVATEL, another EU country has proposed a new grain corridor for Ukraine. According to Western media, negotiations are already underway in Brussels.

The organization of grain export routes from Ukraine has become an urgent need after Russia disrupted the "green corridor" in the Black Sea in the summer of 2023. It was through this artery that the largest amount of food was shipped abroad.

Earlier, for example, Lithuania opened a corridor for the transit of Ukrainian grain. Inspections are being moved from the Ukrainian-Polish border to the port of Klaipeda, which should significantly speed up deliveries, as grain can now stand idle on the border with Poland.

In addition, in late September, the Ukrainian alternative sea corridor demonstrated the ability to receive/release 8 ships per day. This is the same amount we shipped last fall when the grain agreement between Ukraine, Russia, the UN and Turkey was in place.
