"What a cringe": Ukrainians were shocked by the ranking of the world's best boxers because of Usyk and Lomachenko
The authoritative boxing portal BoxRec surprised its Ukrainian readers with an updated ranking of fighters, in which Vasyl Lomachenko (17-3, 11 KOs) was ranked higher than Oleksandr Usyk (21-0, 14 KOs). At the same time, our compatriots did not even make it into the top ten athletes.
Lomachenko was ranked 14th, and Usyk followed him to 15th. The authors of the rating, who evaluate active boxers using a computer scoring system, were not embarrassed by the fact that Vasyl lost two of his last four fights, while Oleksandr has been undefeated since the beginning of his professional career.
The first place, according to BoxRec, is held by the American welterweight Terence Crawford (40-0, 31 KOs). He was followed by Mexican middleweight Saul Alvarez (60-2-2, 39 KOs), and lightweight boxer from the United States Jervonta Davis (29-0, 27 KOs) took third place.
Readers of the Tribuna.com portal reacted ironically to this rating. They trolled its compilers and suggested that Artem Besedin would have taken the first place in the football version of the list.
"Some kind of bullshit system," "Yeah, but according to the FootRec system, Artem Besedin is the best footballer regardless of the championship, club, number of goals and all the statistics," "What a cringe," "Bullshit," readers wrote.
We remind you that on February 17, Usyk will fight Tyson Fury (34-0-1, 24 KOs) for the title of absolute world heavyweight champion. And Lomachenko is scheduled to return to the ring in April with a fight against George Kambosos (21-2, 10 KOs).
As OBOZ.UA reported earlier, former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) champion Conor McGregor made a show of himself to Russians at a boxing show in the United Arab Emirates.
